u’Mast Restaurant Opens in Downtown Miami
October 10, 2017Habitat by José Mendín opens in Miami Beach
November 10, 2017Just over a month old, the new BLT Steak is now located steps from 16th Street on Collins Avenue inside the former Berkeley Shore. After an impressive renovation, the property reopened as Iberostar Berkeley Hotel and is home to the restaurant’s new location.
The restaurant’s front terrace provides ample seating for vibrant al fresco dining and a hidden garden offers a more intimate experience for small and large groups. The main dining room is sophisticated and comfortable with warm hues and plush leather seating.
Arriving with this debut is Chef Carlos Torres. A native of Colombia, Torres’ latin influences are evident in many of the new plates. Steak tartare tacos ($18) are infused with a subtle kick of spice and snapper crudo ($18) is finished with aji amarillo. Uni toast ($22) is prepared two ways and presented on a wood plank with buttery toast. Torres will also highlight a variety of local ingredients on a special weekly blackboard menu.
Alongside these new additions are BLT Steak’s beloved classics including those irresistible warm, flaky popovers. Two favorites for the carnivorous at heart are the Cowboy ($59), a 22-ounce bone-in ribeye, and the 28-day dry-aged NY Strip ($53). The steak cuts are prepared using a sear and broil technique that yields the perfect char and an incredible red center. Another standout making a reappearance is the dover sole ($61) in decadent brown butter sauce.
Over a year since the original location on Ocean Drive closed, the new BLT Steak is set to re-establish its roots and become a South Beach staple once again.
BLT Steak serves breakfast. lunch and dinner daily and is located at 1610 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach
