With more than 200 restaurants participating, Digest Miami makes choosing where to dine much easier with this Top 10 list of must-try Miami Spice dishes.
Alter
Wynwood
Chef Brad Kilgore continues to achieve accolades for his complex, yet approachable dishes at Alter in Wynwood. This year, Kilgore will offer Rabbit Udon, a dish he says was inspired during his time in Italy where it was made with local rabbits, porcini mushrooms and tagliatelle. "I took this and made the porcini sabayon using reduced coconut milk instead of heavy cream... a crispy element of dehydrated shiitake mushroom gives a nice crunch and umami. The rabbit is cured in salt and fresh herbs then slowly confit in duck fat until it falls off the bone."
Bazaar Mar at SLS Brickell
Brickell
Bazaar Mar is known for its imaginative dishes that are a feast for the eyes and the palate! Our top pick on their Miami Spice menu is the California Funnel Cake which is only available at the SLS Brickell location. Inspired by a traditional California roll, the “funnel cake” is made of sea lettuce powder and served as individual tapas, served over a bed of fried sea lettuce topped with avocado, cucumber, blue crab meat, tobiko, and finished with micro mixed greens.
Bourbon Steak
Aventura
Located inside the luxurious Turnberry Isle in Aventura, Bourbon Steak is best known for its refined dining experience and signature steaks. Executive Chef Gabriel Fenton has curated an inventive menu with many standouts including the Yemenite Spiced NY Strip. CORSAIR Kitchen & Bar
Aventura
Also located onsite at Turnberry Isle, Corsair Kitchen & Bar features modern American fare highlighting the freshest, seasonal ingredients available. The restaurant offers a casual yet sophisticated ambiance with an open dining space that spans into an outdoor oasis. At Corsair, dishes are simple, yet flavorful, allowing the ingredients to speak for themselves. One must-try dish this Miami Spice is a homemade Campanelle pasta simply combined with seasonal vegetables, olive oil, shaved parmesan and kale pesto.
Diez y Seis
South Beach
Recently opened at Shore Club South Beach, Diez y Seis is revving up classic Mexican cuisine. For the Miami Spice dinner menu, Chef Jose Icardi puts a delicious and upscale twist on classic enchiladas.
"This dish is one of my absolute favorites! We elevate this simple Mexican dish by adding duck that has been confit for 4 hours, pickled green apples covered with smoked chipotle, salsa roja, and chiguagua cheese. Then we cook it in our own wood oven until the cheese is completely melted." – Chef Jose Icardi
"During Miami Spice, we take pride in ensuring our guests receive the same level of quality, value and dining experience as any visit with us throughout the year." - Chef Aaron Brooks
EDGE Steak & Bar
Brickell
You can always expect world-class service and expertly prepared steaks at EDGE Steak & Bar. Not to be missed this Miami Spice will be the Black Angus Beef Rib Eye Steak sourced from Creekstone Farms. The steak is prepared with the restaurant's signature housemade dry rub before it's perfectly char grilled to perfection and served with red cabbage, slow cooked with red wine and apples, a bone marrow gravy and celery root puree.
Lobster Bar Sea Grille
South Beach
Lobster lovers rejoice! Lobster Bar & Grill is dishing out an exquisite selection of their finest dishes including the Whole Lobster Pasta "Americaine" - A rich sauce is created by simmering whole lobsters with vegetables, herbs, and spices for hours, then finished with white wine, saffron, and heavy cream to yield a super creamy, luxuriously smooth broth. The dish is topped with gently poached lobster meat.
Bobby Asare, General Manager, says that "This dish is [...] a real show-stopper. A whole steamed lobster head and tail is plated with the pasta. We have guests coming in every week who will only order this dish, and it's easy to see why."
Red, the Steakhouse
South Beach
After months of planning, Chef Peter Vauthy revealed Red's Miami Spice menu and it's a good one! Each week the menu will rotate to a new theme to highlight each aspect of Red's entire menu including traditional Steakhouse, Seafood, Italian and Red's classics. Our favorite Miami Spice dish is served during Italian week and is a classic Chicken Parmigiana. Vauthy takes pride in each and every dish and makes as many items in house as possible like his red sauce. Trust us, this Chicken Parm is everything!
Three by Norman Van Aken
Wywnood
Best known for being a trailblazer in Florida cuisine, Chef Norman Van Aken is showcasing his artistry at Three during Miami Spice. Located in the Wynwood Arcade, Three embraces a unique style with vibrant hues and chic decor that complement its Florida-focused menu. One dish you must try for Miami Spice? Make it the Poached Grouper. Locally caught grouper is poached with bonito butter- a combination of dashi, miso, bonito flakes and butter. The grouper is plated atop spicy escarole along with potatoes that are cooked, smoked and tossed with shiso chimichurri.
